James and the Giant Peach

James was wondering in the garden when suddenly he heard a noise behind the bush. He turned around and saw an old man coming out from the bushes, he was a small old man with a bold head and a spiky beard. From the pocket of his jacket he took out a small paper bag, and he started telling James to have a little peep inside. Inside it James could see a lot of little green crystals. The old man said that they where crocodile tounges. He said that they had special powers, that you could do special things with them. You could do the most magical things you can imagine.

- (connection) Like every child I always dreamed to do magic things. This was my favourite game I played whenever I met with Lucas and Isabelle ( two of my best friends). Lucas is just a year younger than me. We knew each other since I was three. Our most favourite game is playing the wizards. We all dress up into our costumes, usually black gowns, and wigs and make-up to look scary. We use sticks to make them look like magic wands, and we pretend to do magical staff with them. We even sometimes mix lots of strange things in a magical pot, to make an evil potion, but it never works. I will never forget when one day my dad took us in an abandon house, in Platres. That house was a magical and powerful evil wizards house, who died over 100 years ago. When we walked in through the open door, the wooden floor was squeaking so much that a piece of wood fell down, and make us all jump. In a corner of one room, we saw a fireplace with lots of pots thrown on the floor. Maybe that's where he was making all of his magical potions. Till now I don't know from the top of my head if my dad was teasing us or telling the truth. One thing that is true it is a scary place. When we have friends visiting us we take them there to see it.

James and the Giant Peach

James lost his mother and father in a terrible accident when an angry rhinoceros escaped from the zoo. He didn't have anybody else other than his aunts, so he went to live with his aunt Sponge and his aunt Spiker, they lived in a funny house on a top of a high hill. James was always put to work, one opf the jobs he was doing was chopping wood which they probably use to cook or light the fire to keepthe house warm on cold days. The chopper he was using was very large and heavy for a small boy like James.

- ( connection ) This reminds me of my wood chopping work I do with my dad, let me start from the beginning. Up on Troodos mountain in a small little village called Platres, we have a little holiday house where we go during the whole year whenever we have a free time ( uon a Saturday or a Sunday ). In the house there is a big fireplace which we light it on very cold days. For this we need lots of wood. Whenever we go, we take the car with my dad and drive around the forest and we gather lots of branches that fell from old trees, we load them on the car and we take them back home, oh yes I almost forgot, that next to our house there is a big field with more than 150 trees. On very windy days lots of branches are falling down even a whole tree, all these branches and trees are stuck in the yard and that's when my dad calls me to help in the chopping of the branches. Unlike James we are using a small axe and an electric saw, after that I have to stake up the logs next to the house and we put a cover on top of it so it won't get wet. For me chopping the wood is fun but for James is the opposite of fun for him, is very difficult. Poor him! :-(

Miss Happiness and Miss Flower - connection 18

The doll house was completed. All the furniture was put into the right places. The pencil case which Melly gave her as a present was placed in Miss Happiness's and Miss Flower's room and it looked perfect chess of drawers. The little tea table looked absolutely right for the size of the dolls. Everything was ready for the dolls to move in. Mona wanted to celebrate this event. She was so happy and she wanted to share this moment with everybody that helped her in completing the doll house. She was going to have a feast and invited Mr. Twilfit ( the bookstore keeper), Mrs Lane ( Nona's teacher ), Mrs Ashton and her friend ( classmate at school ) Melly and also Mother, Father, Anne, Tom and Belinda.
Belinda was very upset because everyone was paying too much attention to Mona, so when everybody was ready and waiting for Nona to put the dolls in the doll's house, Belinda grabbed Miss Flower and took her to her messy doll house. She spoiled everybody's fun and they were all amazed by her behavior.

-(connection) What I want to talk about is sharing with other people. We all have to learn how to share things with other people. We have to share other people's happiness and be happy with them and what they have as well. Also we have to share other peoples saddness and help them with their problems to get it over with. Belinda could not be excused for what she had done with her bad behavior. Belinda was feeling happy seeing Nona being sad for what had happened. Thanks God at the end Belinda understood what she had done to make Nona feel sad. And at the end Belinda apologised for what she did wrong and bad.
From a very young age my parents taught me how to share nisely with other people, and that's how they became my friends because I shared, I was polite, kind and respectful. And whatever stays in your chilhood you will  live it forever, for the rest of your whole entire life.

Miss Happiness and Miss Flower

Nona wanted a doll house to put in the Japanese dolls, Miss Happiness and Miss Flower. Belinda said that she had a doll house where the two dolls could stay, but when Nona saw the house she didn't like it. It wasn't proper for the dolls. It should be a Japanese house. That was the place where the two dolls could live happily. Nona saw Tom making a model boat out of wood. Tom told Nona the he coped the picture from a book. The next day Nona went to Mr. Twilfit's bookstore looking for a book of how to build a Japanese house. Mr. Twilfit gave her lots of books which she read and learnt all about Japanese houses. Tom promised that he was going to make a wooden Japanese house for her. He had all the tools on his working studio.

-(connection) This reminds me of the working bench he has in his studio at home. He has all the tools you can imagine. Electric saw, sander, electric chisel, carving tools, and lots of different pieces of wood. Unlike Nona I happen to be my dad's helper. He doesn't really give me any hard jobs to do, because I'm just a begginner and I have a lot of things to learn and to do. We also use books to copy pictures and make them out of wood. One month before Christmas me and my dad started doing our wooden Christmas decorations. My dad found a lovely picture of an angel which he drew on wood. He cut it with his hand saw and me as a helper I had a task to paint them any colour I wanted but always their wings were white and their hair colour was yellow. Now that Christmas is over we have a new project working on. I decided to carve a swan on wood which we will print on paper when I finished it. I I learnt how to use an electric chisel. I'm not very expirience at it yet that's why my dad stands beside me and helps me with the turns and curves. And he makes sure I had the tool correctly so I don't hurt myself. Sorry I have to leave beacause I have a project to present in a few days at school.
